Labour’s Vision: Where Economic Growth Meets Human Compassion

How Labour’s New Miscarriage Leave Proposal Proves That Social Justice and Economic Strength Can Go Hand in Hand

The Paid Miscarriage Leave Proposal Is Proof of a Government That Cares — and Can Deliver.

While some see economic growth in GDP figures and budget surpluses, the Labour Government sees something more meaningful: the opportunity to uplift people’s lives. The newly announced proposal for paid miscarriage leave — a first for Malta, is not just another policy. It’s a declaration of values.

Values that say we don’t measure success only in profits, but in how we care for people when they’re at their most vulnerable.

👉 Seven days of paid leave for women who suffer a miscarriage.

👉 Equal paid leave for their partner.

👉 Psychological support funded by the state.

👉 And a payment that is more than double the national minimum wage.

This is what responsible leadership looks like — not slogans, not PR games, but real support for real people.

A Policy Rooted in Humanity

The trauma of miscarriage is often invisible. Silent. Overlooked.

With this proposal, the Government is telling grieving families: You are seen. You are supported. You are not alone.

This is not about political points. It’s about recognising human suffering — and matching it with dignity, empathy, and real assistance.

And unlike opposition gimmicks and hollow speeches, this policy comes fully funded, structurally sound, and grounded in the success of Malta’s economy.

Growth with a Purpose

Thanks to Labour’s strong economic management, Malta is now in a position to lead in both prosperity and compassion.

Others preach. Labour delivers.

Under the leadership of Prime Minister Robert Abela, and Parliamentary Secretary Andy Ellul, we are seeing the next evolution of social democracy: a Malta where the economy is strong — and its people are stronger.

A Malta where families are not abandoned in moments of darkness.

A Malta where being progressive means standing tall not only in Brussels or Wall Street — but in maternity wards and at kitchen tables.

Contrast This With the Opposition

What has the PN ever offered except lectures and scaremongering?

What does Delia or Grech propose for grieving mothers or heartbroken partners?

Nothing but silence.

Labour is building a Malta where economic growth fuels compassion — not cuts, not cruelty.

This is what a modern, humane, and effective government looks like.

Malta is not just growing — it’s growing in the right direction. With Labour, growth is not cold. It is warm. It is human. It is real.

And most of all — it reaches the people who need it most.

    My wife had a miscarriage.

The government should take care those mothers who suffer from a post natal depression.
