From Beating His Wife to Beating the Truth

Charged with domestic violence and the illegal arrest of his own wife, Robert Aquilina still dares to preach morality — while defending PN allies accused of multi-million-euro fraud.

Robert Aquilina dragged the mother of his children through the mud to save himself

Robert Aquilina loves to parade himself as Malta’s self-appointed guardian of the rule of law and human rights. He thrives on his soapbox, pointing fingers, accusing others, and pretending to hold the moral high ground. But when you peel back the curtain, you find a man drowning in the very abuses he claims to fight against.

Let’s not forget — police formally charged Aquilina with domestic violence and the illegal arrest of his own wife. That’s not political mudslinging; it’s a matter of public record. The moral pedestal he built for himself has collapsed under the weight of his own actions.

And when cornered? His defence was as cowardly as the allegations themselves: he blamed his wife’s mental health. What kind of man drags the mother of his children through the mud to save himself? What kind of “human rights advocate” weaponises stigma against his own family?

Yet today, Robert Aquilina is back online, spewing bile against the Labour Government. His latest target: the arrest of Francine Farrugia, PN councillor in Siġġiewi and darling of the Daphne-worshipping clique, who stands accused of money laundering and fraud amounting to €2.4 million — allegedly committed during her time at MCAST.

Rather than face the uncomfortable truth that one of his political sweethearts is accused of major crimes, Aquilina does what he always does — deflect, distort, and smear. His post blames the Education Minister for Farrugia’s alleged actions, as if ministers are personally responsible for every corrupt act of every individual in the country.

Here’s what he wrote:

What kind of minister is the Minister of Education that he did not notice the abuse that had been going on under his nose for years?

The hypocrisy is staggering. This is the same Robert Aquilina who failed to take responsibility for the abuse allegations against him — and instead blamed everyone else. The same man who cries “rule of law” while standing accused of trampling it in his own home.

Robert Aquilina is not a guardian of anything. He is a fraud — a man who hides behind high-sounding words while practising the very abuse he pretends to fight. And the sooner Malta stops taking lessons in morality from him, the better.

Aquilina is right to drag in the Education Minister but he has to get facts right. One of his own band had been caught with the alleged fraud. Not to forget his own domestic violence case and his brother’s driving.
