How the Nationalist Party tried to sabotage Ta’ Qali’s success story with lies and failed miserably.
The Nationalist Party and its mouthpieces have once again been caught red-handed peddling lies. This time, the target is Ta’ Qali National Park — a national success story of environmental and social regeneration, led with dedication by Jason Micallef.
Instead of acknowledging the transformation that has taken place in Ta’ Qali, the PN and their satellites have sunk to their usual level: manufacturing FAKE NEWS for political mileage and cheap clickbait.
Let’s be clear:
- FAKE NEWS that trees were cut down.
- FAKE NEWS that grass was destroyed.
- FAKE NEWS that rubble and gravel were dumped.
All lies. All fabrications. All part of a coordinated campaign to undermine the extraordinary work being done at Ta’ Qali.
The truth is simple and backed by facts: every summer, the grass in the picnic area naturally dries out and disappears. Every autumn and winter, it grows back with the rains. This cycle has been happening for decades. The intervention made this year was a responsible one — fine sand and gravel were spread to reduce the suffocating dust that rises in summer, a health hazard especially for families and children with respiratory problems. This is the same practice used in national parks abroad, where human health and accessibility are given priority.
Jason Micallef said it best:
“Unfortunately you have some who breathe their last breath by broadcasting FAKE NEWS… FAKE NEWS from start to finish.”
And who are these people? The failed podcasters hungry for clicks. The PN propagandists who cannot stand to see a Labour-led success story. The bitter few who survive only on lies.
But their plan has backfired. The public can see with their own eyes that the picnic area at Ta’ Qali is not destroyed, but improved. They can see families enjoying the park without the dust storms that plagued previous summers. They can see a government that delivers real results.
The Nationalist Party’s problem is not the picnic area. Their problem is that under Labour, Ta’ Qali has become a jewel of regeneration and community. Their problem is that Jason Micallef is delivering where they never could.
So yes, let the PN scream “fake news” all they want. Malta has learned the truth: the only fake news factory left on this island is the Nationalist Party and its bitter satellites.

Irrespective of where the truth lies, generally somewhere in the middle, jason’s decision to sue trudy kerr is a grave mistake.
Let us not forget that trudy, at one time, was a broadcaster on One. She also had Joseph muscat, then pm, as a guest on a program of hers.
Muscat was an expert in going after every vote, and that is how he won with massive majorities. What jason has done is purely to ostracise somebody who once may have likely been in “our” fold. This puts paid to it. Its folly.
Very ironic given that jason is a muscat loyalist.
The way to deal with this would have been for jason to invite trudy over to the park, and explain whats what. Possibly accompanied by an expert. And taking this to the social media, with smiles and handshakes and commitment and/or promise that the green will re emerge.
Jason’s ways are wrong. I am pretty sure of the damage he has caused.
In full accordance!! The best way is to reply with hard facts and evidence so the people can judge! Rest assured that the people will understand the distinction between fake news and factual information.
