We Condemn How She Died, But We Also Condemn How She Lived

We have always condemned Daphne Caruana Galizia’s murder — but we will not ignore the decades of hate, hypocrisy, and cruelty that defined her life.

Daphne Caruana Galizia

This site has always condemned the murder of Daphne Caruana Galizia. Let that be clear from the start. No one deserves to die the way she did. Murder is never justified, and we have never — and will never — celebrate anyone’s death.

But unlike her, we do not rejoice in death.

Unlike her, we do not insult people who fall sick, die, or suffer tragedy.

Unlike her, we do not spread hate as if it were a public duty.

Daphne Caruana Galizia

We are different from Daphne Caruana Galizia.

Before she died, Daphne Caruana Galizia lived fifty years — years marked by bitterness, vindictiveness, and psychological violence. She weaponised her pen to destroy families, to humiliate individuals, and to poison Malta’s public discourse. She rejoiced in the pain of others and targeted anyone she disliked — not for the truth, but for pleasure.

Behind the keyboard warrior was also a person who stood accused in court of serious offences:

— Beating her husband with plates.

— Crashing her car and fleeing the scene.

— Evading hundreds of thousands in VAT and tax.

These are not rumours. These are facts. She was brought before the courts on multiple occasions to face criminal charges.

So yes — we condemn how she died. But we also condemn how she lived.

Because morality cannot begin at death. It must include life itself.

Anyone who looks only at how she died, without looking at how she lived, is deceiving himself. And the Maltese people are not stupid. The Maltese know the full story. They remember her cruelty as much as they remember her fate.

Daphne Caruana Galizia

That is why she does not deserve a monument.

That is why her name continues to divide rather than unite.

That is why Daphne Caruana Galizia broke the Nationalist Party while she was alive — and continues to break it even in death.

Because hatred leaves no legacy. Only destruction.
